Books and Gaming (Idea)

I just had an idea, might not be new but whatever, what if you were playing a game, let's say skyrim, and you just started a quest. The quest was a simple go to cave kill goblin king deal, it is also a quest related to the main story. So you are just about to start it and you have to leave, I don't know pick up a package, so you grab your phone and tablet and head over to UPS, only to be told you have to wait 10 minutes for processing. So of corse you whip out your tablet and start that quest you left off at home in skyrim.

What I mean is what if reading on the tablet aided your questline in skyrim. You open up this book, and suddenly your skyrim character's stats are loaded up, and you begin one of those old fashioned "Choose Your Adventure" things. Where each choice has a certain number of choices connected to it and so on. Okay weird senario but it would promote kids to read.

How about you found a book on a cave floor, and reading it (I mean actually reading it not just scrolling through it) told you where special weapons were? So your game doesn't have to wait at home, nor do you have to buy a super fancy device to get special items. Each code for the app would be given with the game.

Okay so now the package you wanted is finally ready, you head home, happy to have killed that Goblin King, so now you just hook up your tablet with the consol or PC, and sync it up, or have a cloud set up for it where you can update online even if you are away from the consol.

I might be thinking outside the box, or even with my head in someone else's box so please give me your thoughts.

So, I used my vast quantity of wealth to procure about 30 N64 games. Of corse I know they won't hold up to any current games but that not what I'm buying them for. I am buying them simply to play with friends, and maybe even start retro posting on my channel.

Just like the humble indie bundle this website gets indie games known. If a bundle of games for a low price doesn't get your indie muscle flexing than I don't know what will? OH how about this current one  has To The Moon, a tear jerking indie game that pewdiepie made really popular when he played it. Now unlike Humble Bundle the profits do NOT go to charity, which is not necessary a horrid thing, but it's would add a bit more buying points. Also unlike Humble the only way you can actually buy it is by paying the average price, insuring that there is no 0.01 doouchers who moouch on the cheap system.

Also when you pay a certain amount (Around $8) you can unlock the album(s) and extra games. And most of the games are no DRM so you can "Share them between your computers" and totally not send them to your friend who loaned you $10 so you could buy lunch for this chick because you forgot your wallet last Monday.

Anyway if you are a firm supporter in anything indie with a tight wallet this is right up your alley!

Quest for Nostalgia!

So, lately I've been digging through my old games with great disgust. Seeing the piles of bad games, that I have no desire to play is sad, but that I found it. The greatest creation mankind has ever made. The N64! So I decided, to hook it up. By god, I've been spoiled by the decadence of new games, auto aim, auto run, I AM LAZY GAM3R!

I am looking into building my own comp, as you all know, but I am going to be recording consol gaming as well, to save on costs. You will defiantly be seeing me play retro games, and because my parents didn't buy me every new game when I was young, I only have 5 N64 games, so if you wanna send me some, i'll pay you! I just want to get as many games as I can for my old consol.

So upon the spark of curiosity, and the prodding of a friend I joined reddit. I figured here was a GREAT place to show my experience and I will have no holding back on what happened. This was a side note journal I kept to show you guys how my Reddit life went.

Day 1: Odd layout, confusing, impossible to find help page, impossible to navigate, rules page hidden.

Day 2:  Finding topics, and exploring. Found r/Gaming, turned off the comp early, didn't want to spoil the fun, wanted stuff to explore!

Day 3: Finding more and more topics, I LOVE THIS SITE!! 

Day 4: First Posting...

Day 5: First couple comments, made a few friends, and a few haters

Day 6:  Post got 5 downvotes, but why? 

I'm going to stop for a second a talk a bit about Reddit's Karma system. One can either up, or downvote a post, link, thread, comment ect. The overall number of number of up and downs are calculated and plopped on your user profile. This would be good, but it shows ANY post you've ever made, and since someone decided the best thing to do was allow someone to be able to downvote any thing without reading the actual post. So for example, I made a posting that hurt a hater, he downvotes 10 comments, I look like the jackass who has a -10 karma.

Day 7: Rest

Week 2: My friend warns me about /r/Aethism. Obviously I must see what he is hiding from me. Let me say this: /r/Aethism is the largest bunch of people who enjoy bitching and being asses I have ever seen in my life. I do not know why, but the best thing they have to do is just complain about God, and show how science explains everything, and how people who complain about God are nothing more than ignorant fucks. Now I will say this: I believe in God, but I do not dare to question what is science and what is God. Now I am NOT closed minded, I welcome all scientific debates, and all arguments, but still they just..... they just complain about everything! (/rant)

Week 3: Posting In Aethism topic is not doing so hot, so far -3 downvotes. The topic was "Removing In God We Trust, from the US Currency." I said "Why? It's part of our history....". Of corse this was a kiss of death in Aethism. I got hated, and downvoted.  /r/Gaming getting old, and immature, wanting a different group of peers to talk to. I find /r/TrueGaming. They are a group to talk about games, abit more mature, and pretty funny. At least that was my first impression. /r/gaming is FILLED with Fallout Logics....

Week 4: Find /r/Slender, /r/nosleep, and /r/horror. Most stories are not scary, I laughed, but I liked the change of appearance. This week was the deciding week, if you will. I got my best grasp on the feel of how the groups were laid out. The only things I am seeing are Portal 2 Cakes, things I build because I'm a gamer, Greenlight, and Kickstarters. /r/Gaming is sad now, the immaturity is more frequent than I was led on to think, I was tricked by my friend! This place SUCKS. I find I am being forced to check my mail, and karma every hour! The more smart assey I am, the smaller my karma gets, but the jokes I say, are directed for no one in general. Than I hit the karma gold mine, I said "Personally, I get all the bitches with Link." 30 upvotes. DAFAQ?

Week 5: I am fed up with Reddit, if I go against the popular flow, introduce a new idea, I am shot down before I can make an intelligent statement. My Karma is at a standstill, at 41. I make a posting in both Gaming and TrueGaming. I ask them to generalize their complaints with the gaming industry, the responses I got were awful, people hated me asking an open ended question! How dare I ask a question to gamers, my fault, guess I'm not allowed to discuss games in a gaming forum! I was appalled! I decided the best thing to do was apologize, and slink back to my safety of /r/WTF and put my head between my knees and cry.

Total Anlaysis is still in progress, maybe I will find something to make me stay.

Current Analysis: Unorganized, slow, ad filled website. Many popular subreddits are filled with children, or people with trolling decent. While reddit can be used as a quick news soucre, many of the people on the site swim in the same direction, and attack anything that swims another way. The popular stuff gets upvoted, new stuff, downvoted, dirty/racist stuff upvoted, smart stuff downvoted, long stuff downvoted. Hey, I met some new people, and got a few subs out of it! :D

Whoops!

Well, a shit load of bad things have been happening back to back in my life lately. First off I lost my USB and I can't find it anywhere! It contained about 2 finished videos ready for upload, and one video that needed about 5 more minutes of editing. I need to find it! Like the intelligent sauve man I am, I kept the original files, and the post edit ones safe on my hardrive. I just have to re-export them to .mov files and we should be good again!

After that I have gotten bombarded with tests, and reading assignments, so I haven't recorded at all this week! I hate myself for it, but I love myself to much to do anything. The heat sink on my xbox is shot, so I have to crack it open and see if I can't fix it. I'll need a few hours and about $20 f canned air.

My next Late Night with Fidel will be all about The Reddit Reform. FYI. And if you love reddit now, don't go sending bad karma my way! :D

Sorry, i have been quite busy these last three days, and my life is starting to get backed up again. I've wheeled back on the hours i can work at my job for now, I am starting college this thursday, I am halfway through Darksiders 1, and I am planning on getting darksiders 2 soon. I also picked up a copy of Condemned at the local video store, hoping to shit my pants before I close my eyes every night.



I am now planning these Co-op LPs with others, and hoping they take off soon. I don't know if I can do serious games just yet, because my internet. I MIGHT consider finding a more reliable Internet connection. And even better though happened, what if I use my old windows vista.... hmmm I have to go think.

Bastion video semi saved

I had to clip out a large section of audio out which limits the amount of talking I did. It was very tiresome, and I got the best quality that I could, now comes the hard part: uploading the damn thing.

So I am going to try and get my Bastion, and Serious Sam videos uploaded, it takes FRIGGIN FOREVER! My internet sucks, I would gladly be up to one video or two a day if my internet was amazing. I am also worried about my recorder, its running into a ton of problems, so now I have to find a new recorder to last me until I can save up enough cash for my NEW COMPUTER! I am so EXCITED, finnaly a graphics card i can be proud of...

Newest humble thing that is in a bundle

The people from the humble indie bundle came out with a new thing called The Humble Music Bundle. I bought it solely on the donating for charity, because who pays for music now a days? Any way I figured one I bought it why not download it? Figured the only one I would like would be Jonathan coultan ( the man who wrote the portal songs).

This was actually a really, really nice buy. It comes with 5 CDs and each have about 11-19 songs, which is an amazing plus. Jonathan Coultans album was amazing and I am slowly starting to love MCFrontalot. Which that name sounds ironically stupid, which is the point.

So if you are wondering if you wanna pay that much for 5 CDs, just do it for charity and indie music you ass.

So recording bastion, having fun, lots of hard drive space, and get done. And it stopped recording the audio for the game. So I had to piece together some other ingame audio files I found to replace. I DEFIANTLY need a new recorder...

Anyway I think the order I will play games will be Serious Sam 3, Bastion, than Minecraft.

Battle For Middle Earth 2

Now, I k now what your thinking, but hang in here, cause it's actually a fun game. Before I even liked Lord of the Rings, I loved this game. It's an RTS game, which means Real-Time Strategy. So you make units, and collect resources to ultimately defeat the other team(s). I really like how they added actual maps from the movies, so there is something in there for in nerd in me too! What particularly set this game apart was the options for Heroes, which are single units, stronger than others, and they have really fun moves! Personally fond of Maur, or Gimli. My favorite map has to be Helm's Deep.

So I was chatting with a buddy of mine and he told me about this mod for minecraft called Optifine, its supposed to speed up FPS greatly I tried it, and I will see monday if it works in the next video :D

The Left 4 Dead Series

Now first off yes, I am rating two games at once, the second one is more of an expansion than a new game. Although DO NOT let this detour you from playing these games, they are great! The concept, is played out but a great interpretation of the zombie virus. This game sets you and three other survivors in a random scenario, each game has at-least 4 campaigns. Each mission has random zombie horde attacks, a crescendo moment. Now i'm not here to give you a 7nth grade interpretation on the deeper side of the story, or lack of a strong one, this game is not ment to have a strong story, its a fast paced zombie killing cluster f**k of epicness! Now not to say there is no story, there is indeed one, but it is just mildly dashed in so you do not get bored. 

They have a system set up where you almost never play the same level twice, the same basic principle of the level is always the same, Go to point A do something, Get to the safehouse. Now throughout the game you upgrade your guns, find extra ammo, different grenades, ect ect, but the real great thing is the final mission of each campaign, this is where you hold your own for 5 minutes while a rescue vehicle comes to save you. They go over the top with the levels, from fighting on a stage of a rock band, to the top of some McMansion in the South, there is literally no boring finales in this game!

Game Review #1

Fallout 3

(One of the best games ever!)

When I first played this game, I was skeptical, never had played another game by Bethesda, my only one up to this point was Oblivion. I absolutely fell in love with this game, and to this day love it. The only bad thing I could say is: Bugs galore! The story was great, and the characters are those who you will always remember.  I can still hear Three Dog's famous lines, or the amazing loveable lines of Fawkes the huge super mutant. If I can do nothing more in this world, it is just to say this is a MUST BUY AMAZING GAME! It is just great, the Downloadable Content is just great, from going into space, to visiting redneck mutants, this game covers it all. If I had three wishes, I would use all three to capture the greatness I felt when I first played this game. Rating this a 10/10, this game is Fidel approved, and has won multiple awards by highly esteemed review shows and magazines.

Whoops, Minor setback and a new found

So, I went out and made a GREAT first video, but I talked to much and drug it out to a half hour. The bad thing is, I can only make a 10 minute video max on youtube. So I'm remaking the video tomorrow. I think I'll go ahead and add a new segment to the blog which is Movie and game reviews.

First Movie Review

Wrath of the Titans

Meh, it was okay. Plot was dull, the same rewashed action movie plot, we all have heard over and over. Normal guy, bad problem, reluctant to solve it, forced to solve it, finds a female love interest, ACTION ACTION ACTION!! ect ect

I can only find one or two appealing parts to this movie:

1. Great visual affects
2. I love the scene where Zeus and Hades are walking like two badasses through the battlefield tossing these undead zombie creatures in the air, and killing them

The acting in the movie was not half bad. I only had one major problem with this movie,  the lack of variety with the characters. It is wrath of the Titans  , plural the movie only showed Chronos, as the main bad guy. None of the others, but the small number of characters doesn't stop there, only 4 gods, and 3 demigods. Now this is a huge plot hole, lets just think, a vast world, and only 3 people are called to stop the end. Where are all the other demigods.
